Jeanine Payer grew up in California and made her initial creative connection with drawing and sculpture early in life. Raised around a varied and eclectic cast of characters; young theatre artists, painters, dancers, set designers and writers, she remembers "sitting in the back of theaters while my mother rehearsed, working for hours on drawings and with modeling clay to form miniature tableaux. "I was obsessed with my improvised dollhouse. Inhabited by tiny toy mice, it was a surreal world within a world and very theatrical, including a tiny Brechtian half curtain."
The ever-evolving line continues after twenty-three years, designed by Jeanine and produced in her light filled Jackson Square studio by her highly skilled team of metal smiths. Jeanine continues to study with master craftsmen, learning ancient and new, techniques to add to the vocabulary of her new designs. The Jeanine Payer store is a few blocks away, providing a jewel box context for designs in downtown San Francisco.
Please note: Jeanine has retired from jewelry making, and we are unable to order new pieces from her collection. Below, you will find information regarding the only remaining pieces we have in stock.
